PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii, March 10, 2014 - Representatives from the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CFE-DMHA) attended the annual U.S. European Command's (USEUCOM) European Strategy Conference at Ramstein Air Base, Germany Feb. 25-26.

Dominic Sparacio, Civil-Military Emergency Preparedness (CMEP) Program manager, and Monique Wheeler, CMEP assessments analyst, participated in the conference representing CFE-DMHA as the future organizational program manager of CMEP. CFE-DMHA will assume responsibilities for the program in October 2014.

The conference was attended by U.S. Europe Command (USEUCOM) planning staff, U.S. defense cooperation representatives from embassies in the USEUCOM area of responsibility, select U.S. State Department representatives and other agencies, like CFE-DMHA, providing security cooperation support to USEUCOM. Plenary session presentations and roundtable discussions covered U.S. political and security cooperation challenges, priorities and objectives with a focus on USEUCOM opportunities that could meet those objectives with partner nations in the region.

Sparacio and Wheeler were able to discuss future collaboration and support with key USEUCOM security cooperation staff in preparation for CFE-DMHA's new role in October.
